What is difficulty bomb?

The difficulty bomb is a feature of Ethereum mining in which mining requires an increasingly large amount of effort and resources until it one day becomes unfeasible. The idea is to ensure all miners switch to the latest upgrade provided by the Ethereum network where Proof of Work mining is no longer required.

What is the difficulty bomb in Ethereum?

It is a part of the Ethereum migration process from Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake. The difficulty bomb exponentially increases the mining difficulty, thus increasing the time it takes miners to find a block and validate transactions.

What is a “dirty bomb”?

A radioactive “dirty bomb” or radiological dispersal device (RDD), made by combining radioactive material with conventional explosives to spread it, would not cause catastrophic levels of death and injury on the scale of a nuclear weapon detonation.
